Piper PA-32 300 ZK-OMT was in for fuel. Outa Balclutha.
One would think someone flying this type of machine would be up with the play.... Apparently not as they joined straight in the downwind for RWY-34 right hand (it's a left hand circuit) it's also advisable to do an overhead join as there is Glider launching by winch and Model Aircraft flying going on.
The biggest boo boo is he would have flown through the 1200 foot danger area over Stratford Power Station.
I was not going to mention it but three aircraft flew into that danger area over the weekend. I am not picking sides but they were all GA aircraft.
