The Stratford Aero Club Sport Flyers

would like to Acknowledge the passing off a fellow Aviator who passed away on December 23rd 2018.

Greg (Gregory Mark Tolland)

He was like anyone of us fine and up standing back in the day. Then his Health turned round and he was as you see in the pic's below.

Greg has been coming down and visiting us on a regular basis for a while now. Supported by his Carer extraordinaire Ronnie.

Below is a young Fella full of Beans back in the day.

When they started coming down we showed them round as ya do. We took Greg under our Wing and he enjoyed being involved in anything going on. Loved watching Wayne when he was tickling aircraft. He was especially stoked when Wayne went up and did some Aero's especially for him. As you can see in the pic's he was smiling a lot.

Now you can't come down here and not be suitably attired so we decked him out with a Cap & Shirt & he had them on every time here was down. A good keen man. Here having a dam fine time.

Greg also had his Mum down a few times to see what he was getting up to. I dare say she also enjoyed seeing her boy enjoying his new found place to hang out for bit.

It was good to see everyone at the Aerodrome accept Greg as he was. They would come over and chat to him like anyone else. Here catching the AG action and a big wave from Mark as he taxied for take off.

Greg giving his considered opinion on Jodel starting with Wayne.

He was pretty stoked about that puppy the Spitfire.

His favorite flying machine (other than all the planes at SD was the Catalina).

So long Greg mate clear Sky's & fair winds

We enjoyed having ya about the place.

We will see you off in Style on the 27th.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew --
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
